CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames kicked off their four-game homestand in fine fashion, defeating the Minnesota Wild by a score of 3-1 and captain Jarome Iginla notching his 500th career tally.

The milestone goal was the game-winner, coming at 8:33 of the third period. Iginla's 16th marker of the year came off a passing attempt but after the game, Iginla declared he had no qualms with how number-500 went in.

"Glennie told me I got it," he said. "I didn't know. I thought one of them maybe got it. But I'll take it."

The recently recalled Lance Bouma also had a memorable night, recording his first NHL goal.

"Unbelievable," Bouma gushed. "That's every kid's dream to score in the NHL. I was pretty excited when I saw it go in."

The first period was a scoreless affair that saw the Flames outshot their visitors by a 13-9 margin.

The game remained knotted up throughout the second period with the Wild garnering the best scoring chance midway through the stanza.

Miikka Kiprusoff's incredible pad saves - made with Cal Clutterbuck standing on the doorstep, whacking away - kept the Wild at bay and allowed his team to enter the third period in an even draw.

Bouma kicked off the scoring at 2:02 of the final frame when he cashed in on a Lee Stempniak rebound. Mikael Backlund earned the secondary assist on the game's opening tally.

Iginla's 500th came at 8:33 when his centering attempt ended up deflecting off Mikko Koivu's skate and past Backstrom. His linesmates claimed the helpers on the captain's marker.

The Flames kept pressing and Glencross was able to notch his 17th goal of the season off a feed from Jay Bouwmeester. The winger currently leads the team in goals scored this year.

Minnesota got themselves on the board at 13:41 when Dany Heatley potted his 13th of the year and cut the Flames lead to two goals.
