CHICAGO, IL -- There is no doubt the Calgary Flames are happy their four-game road swing has finished.

The Flames fell 4-2 to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, closing out their trip with a 0-2-2 record.

The Flames fell behind at 9:23 of the first period when former Flames Jamal Mayers and Steve Montador connected.

Mayers dished the puck back to Montador and the defenceman sent a blast from the blueline that evaded Miikka Kiprusoff.

Calgary lost one of its leading scorers at the 15:25 mark when Rene Bourque nailed Brent Seabrook from behind along the boards.

The Lac La Biche, AB native was assessed a five minute boarding call and a game misconduct for the hit.

Seabrook sustained an upper body injury and did not return.

Chicago pushed themselves ahead by two early in the second stanza.

Niklas Hjalmarsson's point shot hit Kiprusoff and trickled underneath him. It slowly slid over the blueline and the Chicago defenceman notched his first of the season.

The Flames lost another forward when Matt Stajan got tangled up with Montador and went hard into the corner. He immediately clutched at his ankle and went straight to the locker room. He did not return to the game.

Sniper Patrick Kane made it a 3-0 game at 14:55 with a power play marker. Chris Butler had been called for tripping just 41 seconds before the goal.

Calgary got on the board with a power play tally of their own in the third period. Olli Jokinen wired a shot at the net with Curtis Glencross acting as a screen and the puck flew past Emery short-side at 2:35.

The Blackhawks responded by beating Kiprusoff on a 5-on-3 power play. Marian Hossa smacked a hard shot over the netminder, scoring his 15th of the year.

The special teams battle continued late into the frame when Glencross scored with Blackhawks forward Marcus Kruger in the sin bin for holding the stick. Jarome Iginla and Jokinen earned the helpers.
