ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -No one in the Ducks' dressing room was more thrilled - and relieved - about Bobby Ryan's winning goal than Jonas Hiller.
After Hiller gave up three goals on breakaways, Ryan scored his team-high 21st goal with 7:17 remaining to give the Ducks a 5-4 victory over Calgary on Sunday night.
"We left Hilly out to dry a few times, so we owed it to him," Ryan said. "He made some incredible saves down the stretch for us and we grinded it out in the third."
"You shouldn't give up three breakaways," Hiller said. "I wish I could have stopped at least one or two of them because it would have made it a little easier at the end. I definitely have to do a better job on those breakaways.
"But I think it showed a whole lot of character from the whole team, coming back in the third, and we found a way to win it. That's what's important."
The Ducks extended their home winning streak against Calgary to 11 games. The Flames haven't won at Honda Center since Jan. 19, 2004. They have only one win in their last 21 games in Orange County since Jan. 13, 1999.
The teams combined for 46 penalty minutes during a rugged and intense first period in which Anaheim outscored Calgary 3-2.
But less than 4 minutes into the second, Craig Conroy sent Giordano in alone on Hiller for his seventh goal after a turnover by the Ducks in the Calgary zone. Glencross scored his 11th of the season on a backhander at 9:19 of the period after blocking a shot just inside the blue line.
"He wasn't called upon early in the game, and then we left him hanging high and dry," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "They had three breakaways and they scored on all three. But he was really solid in the third period and gave us a chance. Once we got settled down in the third period, our big guys delivered for us."
Troy Bodie scored his first NHL goal, Dan Sexton connected on a power play, and Evgeny Artyukhin also scored for the Ducks.
The Flames, who were beaten 1-0 on Friday night by Nashville for their first shutout loss of the season, scored more than three goals for only the second time in their last 23 games. They had no more than two in 16 of those contests, but won four of them. The Flames scored only six goals in their previous four games.
"We had the goal output for sure," McElhinney said. "It's disappointing, my performance. I would have liked a better showing. I feel bad that I let the buys down tonight. They scored four goals for me."
Perry tied it with 12:50 left, flipping his 19th goal over the fallen McElhinney from the edge of the crease. Ryan's third game-winner came on a 25-foot wrist shot from the right circle that beat McElhinney high to the glove side.
Jokinen opened the scoring at 7:05 of the first with his 10th goal. Sexton tied it about 1 1/2 minutes later with his eighth in just 22 NHL games with 9 seconds left on a 4-on-3 power play and 54 seconds remaining on Giordano's tripping penalty.
Artyukhin put Anaheim ahead at 16:59, beating McElhinney from the left circle.
The Ducks made it 3-1 when Kyle Chipchura's centering pass from the right boards caromed in off Bodie's right leg and into the net as Bodie was being checked by Robyn Regehr at the edge of the crease. But the rookie had to wait through the video replay process before the officials determined that it wasn't illegally kicked in.
"I was just kind of crashing the net," said Bodie, a 24-year-old right wing playing in his 15th NHL game. "I knew it went off my foot, but I knew I didn't kick it."
NOTES: Hiller was credited with an assist Artyukhin's goal. ... Flames captain Jarome Iginla has played eight consecutive games without a goal, equaling his longest drought since a 10-game stretch from Jan. 8-Feb. 4, 2008.
