TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -An offensive surge helped bail out a rare subpar performance by Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff.

Jarome Iginla and Kristian Huselius had three goals each in the Flames' 9-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night.

"It's not a goalie's dream game, but you still have to be able to win these crazy games," said Kiprusoff, who gave up six goals on 31 shots. "You just have to keep working. At the end of the night, you look, it's two points, and you have to be happy with that."

Iginla scored all his goals in the third period, giving him six career hat tricks. He broke a 6-all deadlock with goals with 5:19 and 4:19 left in the period. Owen Nolan had an empty-netter with 22.2 seconds to play.

"In those games, nobody's thrilled with the way it's going," Iginla said. "To be able to corral it and find a way, especially here in Tampa, it feels real good."

Huselius recorded his first career hat trick. Adrian Aucoin and Daymond Langkow had the other Calgary goals.

"Anything and everything that could happen did," Calgary coach Mike Keenan said. "Neither coach would be happy with this game in the terms of defensive play. And if you're an offensive-minded coach, you love it. I don't know if there's any in the league, though."

Tampa Bay got two goals and an assist from Martin St. Louis. Vincent Lecavalier, Andre Roy, Vinny Prospal and Brad Richards also scored.

"I've never been a part of a game like that, with 15 goals total," St. Louis said. "I think it was a closer game than the result."

This was the first game between the teams in Tampa since June 7, 2004, when the Lightning beat the Flames 2-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.

The Flames took a 6-5 lead just 25 seconds into the third on Iginla's first goal. Dion Phaneuf, who had a career-high five assists, had his pass from behind the net deflected off a Tampa Bay defender.

Richards, from just inside the blue line, tied it at 6 with a power-play goal at 9:47.

Huselius' third goal of the game put the Flames up 5-4 with 7:44 remaining in the second. He also had two assists and set a career high with five points.

St. Louis' second of the game, on the power play, pulled Tampa Bay even at 5 with 2:04 to go in the second.

Huselius scored twice and had an assist to help the Flames take a 4-2 lead just over 13 minutes into the game. Aucoin, on the power play, and Langkow also scored.

Lecavalier (7:58) and Roy (8:08) scored 10 seconds apart - the fastest two Lightning goals ever in a home game - to give Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead. St. Louis' short-handed goal cut the Lightning deficit to 4-3 with 1:16 left in the first.

Lightning goalie Johan Holmqvist was pulled from his second consecutive start after allowing four goals on six shots. He was replaced by Marc Denis.

"It was a weird night, and unfortunately we gave up nine," said Tampa Bay defenseman Shane O'Brien, who had three assists. "Everything was just going in. I felt bad for Homer, that we let him down."

Prospal tied it at 4 after two bad defensive zone passes by the Flames at 9:38 of the second.

Notes: Keenan said he will not watch a replay of the game. "Absolutely no video," he said. ... Lightning coach John Tortorella declined to assess his team's play until he watches the video. ... This was also the first time since March 14, 2002, that teams played a regular-season game in Tampa. ... Roy has a goal in two straight games. The Lightning enforcer has 31 goals in 440 career NHL games. ... Tampa Bay RW Michel Ouellet left in the second with a left shoulder injury.
