Kings go for season sweep of Flames
Calgary Flames vs. Los Angeles Kings

FLAMES (9-10-4) at KINGS (13-8-2)

TV: SNET-West; FS-West

Last 10: Calgary 4-5-1; Los Angeles 8-2-0

Season series: It's the last of three meetings this season -- and the second in three days. The Kings routed the Flames 6-2 in L.A. on Saturday after winning 3-1 in Calgary on Feb. 20. They haven't swept a season series from the Flames since 1999-2000.

Big story: This is the second half of a rare two-game series, and the Flames have some work to do after being overwhelmed on Saturday. After a slow start, the Kings are looking a lot like the team that won the Stanley Cup last spring.

Team Scope:

Flames: Calgary was able to stay in the game on Saturday for a period or so, but the Kings' relentless forechecking eventually wore them down. By the third period, the Kings were in cruise control and Flames coach Bob Hartley had given goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff the rest of the night off.

Calgary is 0-4-1 in its last five road games and has been outscored 10-2 in consecutive losses at Anaheim and Los Angeles.

"We have to win," coach Bob Hartley said. "That's the urgency that we're facing right now. There's no denying about this. We're not far from eighth spot but at the same time, there's so many teams stuck in that logjam that we have to put a winning streak on."

Kings: L.A. has won 10 of its last 13, outscoring the opposition 46-28. They were dominant in the final two periods against the Flames on Saturday, turning a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes into a four-goal blowout

"We had a good start of the game and then a couple of untimely penalties and then gave up a three-on-two late in the first," coach Darryl Sutter said. "We just … settled down, regrouped. Not that we made any changes; we just come in, reset."

Tyler Toffoli, the Kings' second-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, could make his NHL debut after being called up from Manchester of the American Hockey League, where his 28 goals were second among all players and tops among rookies.

Who's hot: Jeff Carter has been on fire for the Kings with 13 goals in his last 13 games. Defenseman Slava Voynov had three assists on Saturday, his second three-assist game in a week.

Injury report: Flames forward Curtis Glencross was a late scratch Saturday with an upper-body injury. Paul Byron is still out with a hand injury. … Kings defensemen Willie Mitchell (knee) and Matt Greene (back) are nowhere near returning.
