Flames try to keep offense hot against Predators
FLAMES (2-2-0) at PREDATORS (3-0-1)
TV: SNET-CGY (HD)
First of four meetings. Last season, the teams split their four meetings.
On the bright side, the Flames are undefeated when they score. Unfortunately, they've been blanked twice already. Meanwhile, the Predators have yet to lose a game in regulation this season. They've turned to rookie goaltender Anders Lindback, who has made three straight starts after Pekka Rinne suffered a lower-body injury in the Preds' season-opener.
Offense has been the big problem to start the season. The Flames have just 8 goals in 4 games, but they are coming off a 5-3 win in Edmonton on Saturday. Jarome Iginla
scored one of the goals, breaking a 14-game drought dating back to last season.
"I was pretty excited to see that one go in," Iginla said. "Obviously, it's been a tough start as a team and definitely for me personally."
Rinne has been dealing with a lower-body injury, but he could make his return to the lineup Tuesday. Lindback has filled in admirably, going 2-0-1 with a 2.41 goals-against average and .921 save percentage.
But after wasting a two-goal lead in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals, the Preds want to redeem themselves Tuesday.
"There's no choice but to take (the one point)," Predators forward Joel Ward told The Tennessean. "But at the end of the day, we were up by two, and in the third, that's when you have to put away teams to be a good team in this League. You have to finish off people, and that's what it takes."
Who's Hot: Brendan Morrison
, who signed with the Flames after coming to camp on a tryout contract with the Canucks and getting cut, has 1 goal and 3 assists in his last three games. His 4 points lead the team.
For the Preds, Steve Sullivan leads the team in scoring with 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games.
Calgary defenseman Raitis Ivanans
is still dealing with concussion problems after his fight on opening night. The same can be said for Rene Bourque
, who is also battling a head injury. Defenseman Adam Pardy
(shoulder) is out indefinitely.
Along with Rinne, Martin Erat could return Tuesday after missing three games with back spasms. The status of Marcel Goc, who was hurt late in Saturday's game against the Caps, is unknown.
Iginla had a goal and 2 assists in the two games in Nashville last season, and 3 goals and 3 assists in the season series. … The Predators were 0-for-6 on the power play Saturday after converting four of their previous 13 chances.
"(Saturday) definitely feels like our most complete game of the year and something that we can learn from and build on," Iginla said.
