If you look up Patrick Sieloff highlights, the first thing you will notice is the defenceman’s open-ice hitting. Sieloff has sent many a player to the ice in heap thanks to his massive hits and he will never hesitate to throw a check when an opportunity presents itself.
Sieloff has established himself as a shutdown defender with a physical edge, making life very difficult for the opposition. In addition to his physical game, he has a high hockey IQ, a willingness to block shots and solid positioning. His skating is also quite fluid – an asset that comes in handy when going in for a hit at center ice.
The Michigan native chose to forgo the NCAA route after finishing up with the US National Development squad and spent the 2012-13 season in the OHL with the Windsor Spitfires. The rearguard was limited to 45 games due to a groin injury that ended his season on Feb. 15, 2013.
