CALGARY FLAMES AMBASSADORS

The Flames Ambassadors are Calgary Flames supporters, community leaders and business people who understand the full value of the National Hockey League in Southern Alberta.

This group has undertaken to represent the Calgary Flames as

ambassadors within our community with the common goal of supporting and promoting the Flames commercially off the ice and competitively on the ice.

Flames Ambassadors are volunteers, each doing what they can to strengthen the Flames and the Flames Foundation for Life by leveraging their connections with their peers.

Members have diverse backgrounds but the all share a common passion for the Flames and for the community.

Ambassador Events and Functions
Each season the Calgary Flames Ambassadors spearhead several events in the community including The Ambassador Celebrity Poker Tournament and an annual celebrity roast or tribute.

The Ambassadors have held a Darryl Sutter Roast, a Jim Peplinski Roast and a tribute to original Flames owners Doc and B.J. Seaman.

The annual poker tournament has raised more than $1.4 million.
The Jim Kinnear Roast
Proceeds in aid of The Flames Foundation for Life and The Banff Centre
Tuesday, April 12th, 2011 - Hyatt Regency, Calgary, AB

Join the Flames Ambassadors and various friends, family and acquaintances of Jim Kinnear as we (honour) and roast him. Starting with a reception at 5:30pm, and dinner at 7:15pm, the evening will be a fun-filled event with stories, photos and events from Jim's life.

Poker The Calgary Ambassador Celebrity Poker Tournament raises $300,000 for the Flames Foundation for Life!
The Calgary Flames Ambassadors’ and Calgary Flames Hockey Club are happy to announce the 5th Annual Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament held Saturday, January 23, 2010, raised more than $300,000 for the Flames Foundation for Life; bringing the total raised to over $1.4 million over five years.
Calgary Flames players, coaches and alumni competed against 350 other poker players who bought-in at $650 a-piece to play against their hockey heroes and the chance to win more than $40,000 in prizes.
The overall winner of the tournament was Ken Carter who took home a cash prize of $5,000, 4 tickets any where West Jet flies, Flames playoff tickets, 2 Top Shelf Experience tickets and a $7,500 ring.

The Lanny McDonald Roast
The Calgary Flames Ambassadors made former captain and longtime Calgarian Lanny McDonald their latest honorary roast victim in 2010, alongside many members of the Calgary Flames Alumni as well as teammates from the 1989 Stanley Cup Chamionship Team. Over $225,000 was raised in aid of the Flames Foundation for Life, Soldier On Fund and the Special Olympics.
The Jim Peplinski Roast
The Calgary Flames held their fourth annual Roast in honour of former Co-Captain Jim Peplinski. Roasters included; Mike Richards, Brett Wilson, Sean Durfy and a fireside chat featuring Flames alumni; Lanny McDonald and Jamie Macoun. The event raised over $150,000 for Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC) and Children's Cottage Society.
The Darryl Sutter Roast
This Ambassador "Tribute" burned things up on February 27, 2008 at Flames Central. With celebrity roasters including; Rhett Warrener, Ken King, Brian Skrudland, Rich Preston and Rich Sutter. Sponsors, season ticket holders, hockey operations staff and family and friends gathered to go where no Roaster has gone before - Darryl Sutter.  The event raised $125,000 for the Flames Foundation and the Sutter Fund.
Seaman Tribute
The Flames Ambassadors, Calgary Flames players and various friends, family and acquaintances of Doc & B.J. Seaman gathered to on March 1, 2007 for the Seaman Tribute at the Pengrowth Saddledome. The evening was fun filled event with stories, photos and events from the Seaman Brothers’ past. The event organized by the Flames Ambassadors, silent and live auctions as well as a raffle helped raise $150,000 for the Flames Foundation for Life, directed towards the Neuro Arm Seaman Family MR Centre.
