Flames 2014-15 Sportsnet broadcast teams announced
The 2014-15 Calgary Flames Sportsnet broadcast teams have been announced

CALGARY, AB -- Rick Ball and Kelly Hrudey make their NHL on Sportsnet debut this season, calling play-by-play and providing game analysis, respectively, for Flames games. Host Roger Millions returns to provide updates from rinkside.

Hrudey, a Gemini Award winning broadcaster and former NHL goalie, joins the Sportsnet team as a game analyst for Flames regional games, as well as a studio analyst for NHL national games. One of the game’s most popular and knowledgeable analysts, Hrudey has been an integral part of CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada for the past 16 seasons, as both a studio and game analyst. In addition to the NHL regular season, Hrudey has covered 16 Stanley Cup Finals and three Olympic Winter Games – Salt Lake 2002, Torino 2006 and Sochi 2014.

“I’m very much looking forward to joining the Sportsnet broadcast team, and to working with Rick in the broadcast booth,” said Hrudey. “The opportunity to work with the Calgary Flames is near and dear to my heart, as is the opportunity to continue the important tradition of Hockey Night in Canada.”

A veteran broadcaster, Ball brings more than 20 years of experience to his new role as play-by-play commentator for the NHL on Sportsnet. In addition to working on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada the last 3 seasons, Ball has also been the radio voice for the Vancouver Canucks for six years, and was the first play by play voice of the Kelowna Rockets. Outside of the rink, Ball’s game calling has expanded to the CFL.

“I’m thrilled to be starting this new chapter in my life, joining Sportsnet and becoming an integral part of the Calgary community,” said Ball. “I've called many Calgary Flames games over the years, and they have some of the best fans in the league. They're a young, up-and-coming club with a strong work ethic. I look forward to calling the games alongside Kelly – it’s going to be a great season.”

Sportsnet 960 The FAN is the exclusive home of Calgary Flames radio broadcasts this season. Former Hamilton Bulldogs announcer Derek Wills joins Sportsnet 960 The FAN to call play-by-play for all Flames radio broadcasts, alongside veteran analyst Peter Loubardias. Wills was the voice of the Hamilton Bulldogs for 13 seasons, and made his NHL debut on January 25, 2010, calling a Buffalo Sabres game alongside Harry Neale.

“I'm thrilled to be joining Sportsnet 960 The FAN to call Calgary Flames games,” said Wills. “I'm so excited to be moving to a world-class city in Calgary and to be working with first-class organizations in Sportsnet and the Flames. Being an NHL broadcaster has been a life-long goal, so I'm really looking forward to working with Peter and the Sportsnet 960 The FAN team to deliver the excitement of Flames hockey to the passionate fans of Calgary for years to come.”

“Sportsnet and Rogers have assembled an all-star broadcast crew to provide Flames fans with valuable insight, analysis and exceptional coverage that Flames fans so richly deserve,” said Flames President & CEO Ken King. “On behalf of the Flames family, we welcome Kelly, Rick and Derek to our team and of course, welcome back Peter Loubardias and Roger Millions. It’s going to be an exciting season and now thanks to Sportsnet and Rogers, Flames fans have an all-access pass.”
