Glencross Invitational Charity Roughstock Event This Week
CALGARY, AB –The third annual Glencross Invitational Charity Roughstock Event Presented by the Calgary Flames and PennWest Exploration takes place this Friday, August 22nd in Innisfail, Alberta. All proceeds will be directed to the Ronald McDonald House in Red Deer and minor hockey programming in Alberta through the Hockey Alberta Foundation. Over the last two years the event has raised almost $500,000 for these two charities.
The rodeo will take place in Innisfail at the Daines Rodeo Grounds on Friday, August 22nd and will feature bull, bronc and bareback riding with some of North America’s most accomplished riders and stock. Gates open at 5:00 P.M. with events starting at 5:30 P.M. Following the roughstock events Jason Blaine will play in the concert gardens. Tickets are available at the gate for $25.00.
“We are proud to host this event for the third year,” said Curtis Glencross. “Each year the enthusiastic support we receive from sponsors and our roughstock participants blows me away. I cannot thank our committee and contributors enough.”
Prior to the rodeo a poker tournament will be held in Red Deer for event sponsors. Glencross spearheaded the idea for the event and leads a planning committee and event sales.
“These two charities are very close to mine and my family’s heart. My committee and my family have invested a lot of time in the growth and success of this event and the impact it has on these charities,” said Glencross. “By hosting this event more kids get to play hockey in our community and families from Central Alberta have a place to bring their family when they have a sick child.”
Minor hockey support will be directed through the Every Kid Every Community program and the Glencross Legacy Fund through the Hockey Alberta Foundation. The program fulfils grants for kids to play hockey all around Alberta.
Ronald McDonald House® Central Alberta is prominently located facing the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and backing on to Gaetz Avenue. One third or 11,000 of those children are from out-of-town. That’s an average of 30 out-of-town children per day. Ronald McDonald House® Central Alberta supports sick children and their families from rural communities surrounding Red Deer.
