ABBOTSFORD, BC -- Prior to Sunday's afternoon match-up with the Oklahoma City Barons, the Abbotsford Heat announced their 2013-14 team awards.

Netminder Joni Ortio was named the team's Most Valuable Player. He is 25-8-0 in his rookie season with a 2.35 GAA and a .924 save percentage. He has allowed just 79 goals on the 1046 shots he has faced.

In Ortio's last three starts, the Heat have been outshot 111-57 but thanks to his brilliance in the blue paint, Abbotsford won all three games.

Chad Billins, who in his sophomore AHL season, was named the team's top rearguard. Marysville, MI native leads all Heat defencemen in scoring with 10 goals and 40 points through

62 games.

Billins' is currently with the Calgary Flames. He was recalled on Mar. 29 in response to Ladislav Smid going down with an upper body injury.

Finnish forward Markus Granlund picked up the Heat's Top Rookie Award. In 50 games, the pivot has amassed 23 goals and 44 points, placing him fourth in team scoring.

Granlund's strong season earned him a call-up with the Flames earlier this year. He has skated in seven NHL outings, scoring two goals and three points, and remains with the team as he recovers from an upper body injury.

Corban Knight collected the Community Award on Sunday, lauding him for his charity work. The High River, AB native recently was named Abbotsford's IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year as well.

Finally, Max Reinhart was won the Fan Favourite Award. The Flames 2010 third round pick leads the Heat in scoring with 19 goals and 57 points through 62 games. He earned a couple of cups of coffee with Calgary this year, playing in eight games.

The Heat finish off the regular season next week on the road with a pair of games against San Antonio and a single outing against Texas.
