Colborne named recipient of inaugural Good Guy Award
CALGARY, AB -- Joe Colborne is the recipient of the inaugural Calgary Flames Good Guy Award, as determined Friday by local traveling media members.
In the face of ever-increasing numbers of reporters and cameras, we felt it was time to acknowledge players who maintain patience and a good-natured attitude through what can be a trying process -- often daily, sometimes twice-daily.
As voted on by the nine reporters -- who each selected three players, ordered one through three -- Colborne, a Calgary native, edged Mikael Backlund for the recognition. In all, seven different players received votes.
A donation in Colborne’s name will be made to the Flames Foundation for Life.
Colborne, 24, is in his first year with the Flames -- and in his first full year in the National Hockey League. He has recorded 10 goals and 27 points in 78 games.
