Flames recall Chris Breen and Mark Cundari

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that they have recalled defencemen Chris Breen from the Abbotsford Heat and Mark Cundari from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

Defenceman Tyler Wotherspoon will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery later this week.

Breen has played 38 games with Abbotsford this season recording a goal and three assists along with 29 penalty minutes. He has also played six games with Calgary earlier this year, including his first NHL game on October 23, 2013.

BORN: Uxbridge, ON DATE: June 29, 1989

HEIGHT: 6’6” WEIGHT: 225 lbs.

HOW ACQUIRED: Signed as a free agent on July 17, 2013

Cundari has split the season between the Abbotsford Heat and the Chicago Wolves combining for nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points and 73 penalty minutes in 54 games. He played four games with the Flames last season netting his first career goal and a pair of assists for three points.

BORN: Toronto, ON DATE: April 23, 1990

HEIGHT: 5’9” WEIGHT: 200 lbs.

HOW ACQUIRED: Trade with St. Louis along with Reto Berra and a first round pick in 2013 in exchange for Jay Bouwmeester on April 1, 2013.
