||The first period featured a grand total of five shots, with the Flames holding a 3-2 edge.
||However, despite the diminutive shot total, the first period also featured 27 blocked shots. The Flames blocked 17 Canucks attempts while the Canucks threw themselves in front of 10 shots.
||The man known as Big Ern opened the scoring in the second period when his shot from center ice creeped past Eddie Lack. It was Brian McGrattan's second goal of the year.
||The Canucks pulled ahead in the third period when Yannick Weber was able to whack the puck past a sprawling Joni Ortio, who had to shuffle to the opposite direction to deny a streaking Shawn Matthias.
||The Flames had three power plays in the third period but couldn't capitalize for the equalizer.
||Joni Ortio made 12 saves in his fourth career NHL start.
||Surrey, BC native Tyler Wotherspoon collected his first NHL point with an assist on McGrattan's goal.
