Klimchuk named WHL Player of the Week
CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames 2013 first round pick Morgan Klimchuk has been named the WHL's Player of the Week for week ending on Feb. 23.
In four games last week, the Calgary native scored six goals and nine points, leading the Regina Pats to four straight wins.
On Monday, he rattled off a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings. Klimchuk scored a hat trick in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Saskatoon Blades. On Friday, he picked up an assist on the game-winner in a 3-2 victory against the Victoria Royals. He closed out the week with two goals and an assist in a 5-4 shootout win over the Calgary Hitmen.
Klimchuk, who was the 28th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, has registered 61 points (25 goals, 36 assists) in 48 games. The winger missed several games with a lower body injury but still remains tied for third in team scoring.
The Flames signed Klimchuk to a three-year entry-level deal on Dec. 17, 2013.
