Report: Berra to get the start against Sweden
Reto Berra will make his Olympic debut on Friday against Sweden
CALGARY, AB -- Multiple sources are reporting that Calgary Flames netminder Reto Berra will make his Olympic debut on Friday when Switzerland faces off against Sweden.
The Swiss head into the match-up with a 1-0 record after defeating Latvia 1-0 on Wednesday. Jonas Hiller made 21 saves in the victory while Berra acted as his back-up.
While this is Berra's first time representing Switzerland at the Olympics, he has played in multiple international tournaments throughout his career. Last spring, he played a large part in the Swiss' success at the IIHF World Championships, where they captured the silver medal. In four games, he posted a 1.00 GAA and a .967 save percentage.
The netminder started the season with the Abbotsford Heat, going 4-3-1, before being recalled by the Flames on Nov. 2, 2013. He has played in 27 NHL games this year with a 3.02 GAA and a .896 save percentage.
