CALGARY, AB -- In some ways, the Mile One Centre in St. John's, NFLD feels like home ice to Abbotsford Heat standout Ben Street.

While he was born in Coquitlam, BC, the vast majority of his family hails from the province known as The Rock and they still reside in its capital city.

"We’re talking some serious tickets [to buy]," he chuckled. "My mom was born there. My dad was born there. And of both families, they’re the only two that have left. My whole family is in St. John’s. They were all pretty excited about that.

"It's a huge honour to be a part of the event."

In 35 games with the Heat this season, Street has amassed 19 goals and 38 points, putting him just one point behind scoring leader Markus Granlund. He has been pivotal in Abbotsford's success this season and has become a leader on Troy G. Ward's young squad.

His stellar play has earned him 13 games with the Flames this season with his most recent call-up coming last month.

"Everyone has been contributing and we've been able to find success," he said of his 2013-14 campaign in Abbotsford. "We've had ups and downs but we've been able to work through the rough spots."

Street will be joined by his teammate Chad Billins, who signed a two-way deal with the Flames last summer, at the All-Star Classic. The rearguard has given Abbotsford's blueline quite the spark this season, potting eight goals and 34 points in 46 games.

Both the All-Star Classic skills competition and game will be aired on Sportsnet One on Feb. 11 and 12.
