ABBOTSFORD, BC -- The Abbotsford Heat thumped the Hamilton Bulldogs 6-0 on Friday night and now sit in second place in the Western Conference with a 26-14-4 record and 58 points.

Netminder Joni Ortio turned aside 34 shots in the victory, collecting his second AHL shutout. The Flames 2009 sixth round pick is not 18-5-0 this season.

The Heat's first goal of the night came off of Markus Granlund's stick during a second period power play. It was the Finnish forward's 18th tally this season, which leads all Heat skaters. Knight put two more past Hamilton goalie Dustin Tokarski before the second period came to a close, giving the Heat a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs.

Heat rookie Josh Jooris kicked off the third period scoring at the 7:20 mark, with Sven Baertschi and Corey Locke picking up the helpers.

Blair Jones, who was assigned to Abbotsford earlier this week, then scored a pair of goals in a span of 1:47 to ice the win for his team.

Seven different skaters had multi-point games on Friday: Granlund (1 goal, 1 assist), Reinhart (2 assists), Knight (2 goals, 1 assist), Jones (2 goals), Locke (2 assists), Evan Trupp (2 assists), and Derek Smith (2 assists).

The Heat take on the Bulldogs again on Saturday night at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre
