Heat thump Barons in first game of two-game set
Max Reinhart scored a pair of goals in the 5-1 victory
ABBOTSFORD, BC -- The Abbotsford Heat picked up a 5-1 victory over the Oklahoma City Barons, the Edmonton Oilers AHL affiliate, on Friday night.
Ben Street and Max Reinhart were offensive juggernauts for the Heat, with Street collecting four assists and Reinhart registering two goals and three points in the win. Corban Knight and Ben Hanowski also had multi-point outings; each Flames prospect scored a goal and an assist.
The Heat kicked off the scoring at 4:04 of the first period when Hanowski was able to hammer one past Richard Bachman. Just over five minutes later, Knight gave his team a two-goal lead with a power play marker.
In the second period, Reinhart gave his team a 4-0 lead with his sixth and seventh goals of the year and forced the Barons to make a goaltender change. Chet Pickard replaced Bachman in net at 12:16 of stanza.
The Barons got on the board in third period when C.J. Stretch potted a power play marker but Josh Jooris responded, scoring his team's fifth goal of the night at 16:33.
Flames prospect Joni Ortio was once again stellar in net, stopping 32 of 33 shots in his 14th win of the year. The Finn is 14-2-0 on the year with a 2.23 GAA and .925 save percentage.
