Scouting Report: Detroit Red Wings
Keep an eye on these Red Wings when the Calgary Flames visit Detroit

CALGARY, AB -- The Detroit Red Wings are walking wounded.

Missing the likes of Henrik Zetterberg (back), Johan Franzen (concussion), Justin Abdelkader (concussion), Darren Helm (shoulder), Gustav Nyquist (groin) and Stephen Weiss (groin) up front, the Red Wings have had to dig deep into the reserves.

It's come at a price. Detroit has gone six straight without a win and are just 7-8-7 since beating the Calgary Flames 4-3 on Nov. 1st at Scotiabank Saddledome.

To make matters worse, the Red Wings are also missing starting goaltender Jimmy Howard (knee sprain) and top-four defenceman Danny DeKeyser (shoulder), too.

This Season: 15-12-9, 39 points (6th in East)
Last Season: 24-16-8, 56 points (7th in West)
Notable Additions: F Daniel Alfredsson, F Stephen Weiss
Notable Subtractions: F Damien Brunner, D Carlo Colaiacovo, F Valtteri Filppula, D Ian White, F Jan Mursak

Flames Season Series Record: 0-1-0

WHO'S HOT

TOMAS JURCO

In just his second National Hockey League game, Jurco recorded his first career goal. The 20-year-old, selected 35th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, opened the scoring just 3:15 into the first period in Detroit’s 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.

WHO'S NOT

PAVEL DATSYUK

Though he leads the Red Wings in goals with 13 and second in points with 25, Datsyuk hasn’t found the score sheet in Detroit’s past four games. Averaging 20:56 of per game, the 35-year-old leads all forwards in ice time.

THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH

PETR MRAZEK

Though it’s entirely possible that Jonas Gustavsson gets the start against the Flames, Mrazek -- who did come on in relief of his fellow goaltender in Wednesday’s 5-2 loss to the Ducks -- could make his fifth career NHL start. He’s sporting a 1-1-0 record with a 1.49 goals against average and .932 save percentage in action this year.

JORDIN TOOTOO

Recalled Wednesday from the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins, Tootoo could draw into the lineup against Calgary on Thursday. The 30-year-old has played eight games with Detroit this season and is still searching for his first point. He has four in 12 games with the Griffins this year.

RILEY SHEAHAN

With just three career National Hockey League games under his belt, Sheahan could see his fourth against the Flames. The 22-year-old is still searching for his first NHL point, but the former first round pick in 2010 does have 14 in 23 games with Grand Rapids this year.
