CALGARY, AB -- Three members of Hockey Canada's 2014 World Junior Championship coaching staff will be behind the bench during the 2013 Subway Super Series, the next step in Canada's evaluation process for the WJC roster.

Head coach Brent Sutter will lead the Western Hockey League stars in the two games they will play against Russia; Nov. 27 in Red Deer, AB, and Nov. 28 in Lethbridge, AB. Kootenay Ice coach Ryan McGill, who is on Sutter's staff for the WJC, will act as his assistant coach in those games.

Gatineau Olympiques coach Benoit Groulx, who will serve as Sutter's assistant coach at the WJC, will serve as the QMJHL bench boss in the Subway Super Series. The QMJHL will take on Russia on Nov. 18 in Gatineau, QC, and Nov. 20 in Sherbrooke, QC.

The Flames had three prospects participate in Hockey Canada's summer development camp in August, the first step in their evaluation process for the WJC roster - Sean Monahan, Mark Jankowski and Emile Poirier.

All three are off to great starts to the 2013-14 campaign. Monahan is leading the Flames in goals scored through the first 10 games of the year with 6 tallies to his name. Jankowski has scored 4 goals in his opening 4 games of the season and is second in team scoring with 5 points. Poirier has 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) in 14 games, leading Groulx's Olympiques.

The 2014 WJC will be held from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2014. Sutter led Canada to back-to-back gold medals in the tournament in 2005 and 2006.
