A look at how Flames prospects in the WHL, QMJHL and NCAA are doing

CALGARY, AB -- Several Calgary Flames prospects had strong weeks in their respective leagues, racking up points and helping their clubs climb in the standings.

Boston College forwards Johnny Gaudreau and Bill Arnold played in an exhibition game this past weekend and both contributed in the 8-2 win over St. Francis Xavier. Gaudreau had one goal and one assist while Arnold recorded one goal on three shots. The Eagles season officially begins on Oct. 10.


Eric Roy suited up for two games this past week, picking one assist. The rearguard currently leads the Brandon Wheat Kings in scoring.

Morgan Klimchuk leads the Regina Pats in scoring after picking up three points in his last two games. The Flames first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft is currently averaging 1.29 points-per-game.

Coda Gordon played in three games over the last week and registered seven points (three goals, four assists), pushing him into the team lead in scoring. The winger was was the Flames sixth round selection in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Keegan Kanzig has been an anchor on the Victoria Royals blueline, asserting himself physically since being returned to his junior club on Sept. 26. His 15 PIM - in five games - is third on the team. The defenceman was drafted in third round of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Blueliner Brett Kulak is currently tied for second in team scoring and is also tied for first in amongst defencemen in Vancouver. Kulak is in his third full season with the Giants. He was the Flames fourth round pick in 2012.

Emile Poirier currently leads the Gatineau Olympiques in scoring and his six-point week led to him being named one of the QMJHL Three Stars Of The Week. He leads the team with two short-handed markers as well. The Flames selected the winger 22nd overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.
