Flames acquire and sign TJ Galiardi from San Jose

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that they have acquired and signed forward T.J. Galiardi from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for the Flames fourth round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

“We are thrilled to add a young player with TJ’s size and versatility to our line-up,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “He can play Left Wing or Center, he competes hard, is a very good energy player, and he is only 25-years old. The fact that he is from Calgary, lives here in the off-season and played for the Hitmen is an added bonus, as he is yet another player who is excited to be part of our program going forward.”

Galiardi, a native of Calgary, AB, has just completed his fifth NHL season in which he has played 221 career NHL games recording 39 goals and 48 assists for 87 points. He was originally drafted in the 2nd round, 55th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by Colorado. Galiardi started his junior hockey career with the Calgary Royals of the AJHL and then opted to play collegiate hockey with Dartmouth College for the 2006–07 season. He finished the season with 31 points in 33 games for the Big Green, second to current Calgary Flame David Jones. Galiardi left collegiate hockey for the WHL for the 2007–08 season and was traded to his hometown team, the Calgary Hitmen. As well as recording 70 points in his rookie WHL season, he led the entire WHL in 2008 playoff scoring.
