Draft-eligible Cammarata receives multiple USHL accolades

CALGARY, AB -- 2013 draft-eligible Taylor Cammarata of the Waterloo Black Hawks has been named the USHL Forward of the Year and USHL Player of the Year after an incredible 2012-13 campaign.

"Beginning last summer in Russia for the Junior Club World Cup, and throughout this season, Taylor Cammarata just lit it up for the Waterloo Black Hawks," USHL President and Commissioner Skip Prince told USHL.com "There's a reason why he'll go down as one of the most popular and dynamic players - not just in Waterloo, but throughout the USHL. There's a very large heart in that compact body, and extraordinary skills. Congratulations to Taylor on well-deserved awards, as he moves on to what should continue to be a special hockey career."

The 18 year-old left winger led the league with 93 points (38 goals, 55 assists) in 59 games, besting his previous USHL-high, set in the 2011-12 season, by 24 points. Cammarata's points total was the second-most in USHL Tier 1 history (2002-present), trailing Kevin Roy's 104 points in the 2011-12 campaign.

His 38 goal-total was also tops in the USHL and the third-highest in league history. He notched five game-winners and his shooting percentage (.211) was second in the USHL this year. Cammarata had 29 multi-point outings in 2012-13 and, from Dec. 1 through Jan. 12, put together a 14-game point streak that saw him register 22 points (9 goals, 13 assists).

Cammarata began his USHL career in the 2011-12 season and was named the Rookie of the Year after compiling 69 points (27 goals, 42 assists) through 60 games.

The Plymouth, MN product is the 193rd ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting. He has committed to the University of Minnesota and will begin his collegiate career in the fall of 2013.
