Wotherspoon and the Winterhawks take Game 4 of the WHL Championship series
CALGARY, AB -- Tyler Wotherspoon and the Portland Winterhawks have taken a 3-1 lead in the WHL Championship series after edging the Laurent Brossoit and the Edmonton Oil Kings by a score of 2-1 in Game 4.
The Winterhawks scored both of their goals in the first half of the game, coming off of Troy Rutkowski and Brendan Leipsic's sticks, and netminder Mac Carruth stood tall in the back half of the contest as the Oil Kings poured shots on him in their desperate comeback attempt. All in all, Carruth made 29 saves with only Mitchell Moroz being able to beat him early in the third period.
Brossoit made 19 saves in Game 4. His postseason GAA currently sits at 1.71, second only to Carruth, and he has a .938 save percentage in 20 playoff games.
Game 5 goes Friday at 8:00 PM MT in Portland.
