CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames rearguards TJ Brodie and Chris Butler were in action today at the 2013 IIHF World Hockey Championships as Canada faced Norway and the USA battled Russia.

Brodie and the Canadians skated away with an easy 7-1 victory over the Norwegians, capitalizing four times in the opening frame. Andrew Ladd, Jeff Skinner, Matt Duchene, Claude Giroux, Taylor Hall (2) and Steven Stamkos all found the back of the net in the win that gives Canada a 2-0-1 record at the tournament.

Brodie earned his first point at the World Championships with an assist on Stamkos' third period marker. He logged 13:32 of ice time, picking up 15 shifts.

The Americans suffered their first loss of the tournament after falling 5-3 to the Russians. Paul Stastny (2) and Matt Hunwick were able to beat Russian netminder Ilya Bryzgalov but American goaltender Ben Bishop was unable to stop Ilya Kovalchuk, Yevgeni Medvedev, Anton Belov, Alexei Tereshenko and Alexander Radulov.

Butler had 11:11 of ice time and was a minus-two.

Reto Berra and Switzerland will play Slovenia on Wednesday while Joni Ortio and Finland will square off against Butler and the USA tomorrow.
