Flames sign Reto Berra

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed goaltender Reto Berra to an entry-level contract.

Berra, a native of Bulach, Switzerland was acquired by the Flames from St. Louis along with Mark Cundari and St. Louis’s first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft in exchange for Jay Bouwmeester on April 1, 2013. He was originally St. Louis’ 4th round pick (106th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Berra is currently playing for Biel in the Swiss A League where he has appeared in 49 games posting a 3.01 GAA and a .906 save percentage. The 6’4” 200 lb netminder has also played with HC Davos. Berra, 26 years old, represented Switzerland several times at the World Championships and with the junior national team in international competition.

Contract terms: One year entry-level contract at $765,000 per season with an average annual value of $1,381,250 (including entry-level performance bonus).
