Gaudreau posts six points in Boston College\'s 7-2 win over Vermont

March 9, 2013 is a date Calgary Flames prospect Johnny Gaudreau won't be forgetting any time soon.

The Boston College sophomore posted a career-high six points in the Eagles 7-2 thumping of Vermont on Saturday night, scoring two goals and four helpers in a win that secured second place in Hockey East for his team.

The New Jersey native set up the game's first goal in the opening stanza, connecting with fellow Flames prospect Bill Arnold who scored at 14:01.

Gaudreau then found the back of the net himself early in the second period, scoring on the power play. He picked up an assist on Steve Whitney's goal in the second frame and finished off the stanza with an unassisted tally of his own.

His added two more assists in the final frame.

Gaudreau and Boston College will host Vermont next week in the Hockey East quarter-finals.

The 19 year-old now has a five-point lead in the Hockey East scoring race with 46 points (18 goals, 28 points) in 31 games in the 2012-13 campaign. The forward also leads Hockey East with a 1.48 points-per-game average.

Gaudreau's outstanding play this season has his name in the 2013 Hobey Baker Award conversation and BC Interruption - a Boston College Athletics blog - has coined the phrase Gaudreaubey Baker to help drum up support for the diminutive forward.

The Flames selected Gaudreau in the fourth round (104th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.
