Brossoit released from Hockey Canada Selection Camp
CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames prospect Laurent Brossoit was released from Hockey Canada's 2013 World Junior Championship Selection Camp on Thursday afternoon.
The Team Canada coaching staff shared with Brossoit that his performance in camp wasn't the deciding factor in his release.
"They told me I did everything I could and that it wasn't my play in the camp. They thought I played well in the camp. I myself am a little confused and you wonder what else you could have done. It is what it is."
Brossoit played extremely well in the three games at camp, stopping 48 of 50 shots.
"It's always frustrating when you don't know what else you could have done. I thought I stopped the pucks I needed to stop and I guess it's not just camp that they're evaluating you in.
"I'm going to take this experience and learn from it and better myself in the future."
The Flames drafted Brossoit in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Draft. He currently plays for the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL.
