Flames team up with CWHL to support Team Alberta
CALGARY, AB –The Calgary Flames and the Canadian Women’s Hockey League announced today a partnership introducing the Flames as a major supporter of Team Alberta in the newly formed Canadian Women’s Hockey League.
“We are proud of our new partnership with Team Alberta and to support women’s hockey through this sponsorship with the CWHL”, said Flames President & CEO Ken King. “It will be especially exciting to see some of the best players in the world compete in our own backyard, call Calgary home and to do so while wearing the traditional colors of the Flames. We are honored to welcome them to the Flames family and look forward to celebrating their success both on and off the ice.”
Team Alberta will be branded with the Calgary Flames colors of red, yellow, black and white and the Flames unique striping pattern. Pants, socks, helmets and gloves will also be a direct match to the Calgary Flames classic home and away uniforms. Replacing the Flaming C on the front of the jersey will be the new, yet to be determined, name and logo of Team Alberta. The new name will be decided from a fan oriented contest that has launched today. Please visit www.CWHL.ca or www.calgaryflames.com to participate.
“This partnership truly captures the essence of our strategic plan with a team-to-team alliance that will impact both our own league, and women’s hockey across North America through growth, awareness and exposure. This is an important leap forward in our development and we’re thrilled to have the Calgary Flames be and integral factor to our future success, as well as the powerful message that this sends to our players, stakeholders and sponsors. Our common goal is to build a strong infrastructure and world-class partnership with the Calgary Flames,” said Brenda Andress, Commissioner of the CWHL.
In addition to club branding, Team Alberta and the Calgary Flames will cross promote to grow women’s’ hockey through marketing, social media, ticketing, sponsorship and player community involvement opportunities. An immediate special offer is now available to all Flames, Hitmen, Roughnecks and Stampeders season ticket holders for the remainder of the 2012-13 CWHL season. By showing your season ticket holder identification, you can receive complimentary access to any of Team Alberta’s home games at WinSport.
