Flames Celebrity Charity Golf Classic raises over $340,000
CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames Celebrity Charity Golf Classic held Thursday, September 13th was a great success for the Flames Foundation for Life raising over $340,000. This year’s golf tournament took place at two different golf courses – Links of GlenEagles and Country Hills Golf Club with over 330 golfers total at the two courses.
Following a beautiful day of golf the participants met back at the Scotiabank Saddledome for prizes and dinner. Calgary Flames participants lead the race for skill prizes with Craig Conroy winning closest to the pin at Country Hills, Jamie Pringle winning closest to the pin at GlenEagles, Roman Horak winning longest drive on the Country Hills Talons course and Carter Bancks winning longest drive on the Country Hills Ridge course.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Flames Foundation for Life. One of the major beneficiaries in this year’s tournament was the Kids Cancer Care Foundation’s Camp Kindle. The Flames Foundation for Life is the charitable arm of the Calgary Flames through which millions of dollars in funding have already been directed to education, medical research, amateur sport and recreation. Since its inception over 30 years ago, the tournament has raised over $5 million for local charities.
