Brossoit off to Russia for first two games of Canada-Russia Challenge
CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames prospect Laurent Brossoit is headed to Yaroslavl, Russia with Team Canada for the Canada-Russia Challenge.
Brossoit is one of three netminders on the roster for Team Canada. Malcom Subban and Maxime Legace will also don the red and white for the tournament.
The Canada-Russia Challenge kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 9 in Yaroslavl at 9:00 AM MT. Game 2 will also be played in Russia on Friday, Aug. 10 at 8:00 AM MT.
The tournament resumes in Halifax on Monday, Aug. 13 at 5:00 PM MT. The final game takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 5:00 PM MT.
All four games can be seen on TSN and RDS.
Brossoit was drafted by the Flames in the sixth round (164th overall) at the 2011 NHL Draft. He has spent the last two seasons in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
He had an incredible 2011-12 campaign which saw him post a 42-13-5 record, a 2.47 GAA and a .914 save percentage in the regular season. He was lights out in the playoffs, helping the Oil Kings win the WHL Championship. Through 20 postseason games, Brossoit posted a 2.04 GAA and a .933 save percentage.
