Flames release Hartsburg
CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that they released associate coach Craig Hartsburg.
“At the conclusion of our season, we said that our new coach would be given the privilege to make decisions on his staff,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “While it’s always difficult to lose good people, I’m pleased that Bob and Craig have been diligent on reaching their conclusion. Craig’s experience and savvy proved invaluable in this circumstance. I thank Craig for his commitment and hard work this past year and wish him every success in the future.”
Hartsburg is now free to pursue other opportunities in hockey. Flames head coach Bob Hartley will now focus on choosing a candidate to round out his coaching staff.
“I would like to thank the Flames organization and especially Jay Feaster and John Weisbrod for the opportunity to work in Calgary,” said Hartsburg. “I’d also like to thank the players. I had a terrific group of people to work with. However, I believe it is best for Bob Hartley, coming into a new coaching situation, to have his own staff. I wish the Flames the very best of luck and I’m looking forward to my next venture in hockey.”
