Smith to serve up smiles on McHappy Day

CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames defenceman Derek Smith will be on location serving customers, taking orders, and signing autographs at the McDonald’s Monteray Park location on May 2nd in support of the 19th annual McHappy Day.

TIME: 7:30-9:00 a.m.

McHappy Day donates $1 from every Big Mac sandwich, Happy Meal, and Hot McCafe beverage sold on May 2nd at all McDonalds locations across Canada.Smith will be on location to support the longest-running national fundraiser which raises funds for Ronald McDonald House charities. Calgary Flames Staff will also be serving up smiles to customers at the McDonalds Stanley Park location from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

The Ronald McDonald House is a partner of the Calgary Flames charitable arm; the Flames Foundation for Life. One of four pillars of the Flames Foundation for Life includes Rotary/Flames Park – a two acre oasis that includes a tots’ playground, team play area and quiet garden retreats surrounds the Ronald McDonald House. The house is a compassionate, safe and affordable home-away-from-home for out-of-town families whose children are in treatment at a Calgary hospital.

The Flames Foundation for Life continues to touch the lives of thousands of people through its commitment to education, medical research, health, amateur sports and recreation.

The Flames Foundation for Life is the charitable arm of the Calgary Flames Hockey club. The Foundation is committed to supporting Education, Health and Medical Research, and Amateur and Grassroots Sports and raises funds throughout the year for these key areas.

Fundraising initiatives include 50/50 draws at Flames Games, contests and special events such as the Flames Ambassadors Celebrity Poker Tournament.

Proceeds from fundraising are directed to many charities in Southern Alberta. From families facing the terminal illness of a child to student athletes, with your support, we are creating positive change and touching the lives of thousands.
