Conroy roast raises over $225,000 for charity

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames Ambassador’s are proud to announce their eighth annual Celebrity Roast presented by ATB Financial raised over $225,000 in benefit of the Flames Foundation for Life and Missing Children of Canada. Over 500 people gathered at the Westin Hotel on March 7th to roast and pay tribute to the Calgary Flames Special Assistant to the General Manager and Flames alumnus Craig Conroy.

Roasts during the evening were featured from former Flame Rhett Warrener, Conroy’s former teammate from the Los Angeles Kings Derek Armstrong and event emcee Jamie Macoun. Video roasts included in the evening full of laughter came from Flames players Jarome Iginla, Tom Kostopoulos and Mike Cammalleri along with former teammates Adrian Aucoin and Jamie McLennan. The Flames Ambassadors Celebrity Roast Gala’s have raised over $1 million in the last eight years. Former roastees including; Jim Kinnear, Lanny McDonald, Jim Peplinski, Darryl Sutter, Ken King, Harley Hotchkiss The Seaman brothers and now Craig Conroy. Proceeds from the event benefited the charitable arm of the Calgary Flames, the Flames Foundation for Life and to the Missing Children Society of Canada. The Flames Foundation for Life, the charitable arm of the Flames Hockey Club, continues to touch the lives of thousands of people through its commitment to education, medical research, health, amateur sports and recreation.

The Missing Children Society of Canada has been reuniting missing children with their searching families through professional investigations, public awareness and family support programs. MCSC’s team of former police detectives and trained investigators work closely with law enforcement while conducting frontline, hands-on investigative and search activities. Craig joined the MCSC board in summer 2011.
