Morning Skate Report: Flames vs. Coyotes
Flames forward David Moss has been limited to just 15 games this season due to nagging lower body injuries but it looks like the 30 year-old is ready to return to action tonight in Glendale.
"I'm focused. I'm prepared. I'm excited to get back to playing," he said after the pre-game skate in Glendale. "Everyday I feel better on the ice and it's just a matter of getting into some game time."
Moss has been skating on a line with Olli Jokinen and Curtis Glencross - dubbed the OMG line. The trio have had great success in the past and that kind of familiarity is something Moss is grateful for as he gets himself back in the swing of things.
"Two guys I'm familiar playing with and hopefully we can find some chemistry right out of the gate."
Moss has amassed one goal and five points thus far this season. He has a plus-one rating in 15 games played.
Given how tight the Western Conference is, every game played by those still in contention for a playoff position has the cliched "biggest game of the year," feel to it.With a very busy March schedule, it would be easy for players to start looking at games later on but they know they need to focus solely on the game they are playing that night rather than looking ahead.
"We think it's a must-win," said Tom Kostopoulos. "It's a playoff game for us."
Glencross added that the team cannot dwell on past losses as it will simply hinder their performance going forward.
"We can't look on the past right now," he said. "It's just one of those things where we need to come out and compete. As long as everyone comes out and competes, we'll be happy."
As of Thursday morning, the Flames sit in 11th spot in the West but are just four points back of Dallas, who resides in the final playoff spot. Colorado and Los Angeles each have 70 points in 64 games. Calgary has played one less game than all three teams.
Matt Stajan needs 1 goal for 100.
Jay Bouwmeester needs 2 games for 700.
Mike Cammalleri needs 9 goals for 200.
Mark Giordano needs 10 assists for 100.
Scott Hannan needs 5 points for 200.
