GLENDALE, AZ -- Olli Jokinen extended his point streak on Thursday night but the Flames fell to Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 in overtime.

Jokinen has five goals and seven points in that span.

Shane Doan scored the game-winner 3:05 into overtime. The tally came while the Coyotes were on the power play. Mikael Backlund took a tripping call at the 2:07 mark.

Leland Irving started his fourth game of the season. The rookie netminder made 34 saves in the loss.

The Coyotes struck 7:43 of the first period thanks to Taylor Pyatt's seventh goal of the season.

Flames blueliner TJ Brodie opted to jump into the play in the Coyotes zone but none of his teammates fell back to the point to cover up for him.

After he turned over the puck, the Coyotes went in on a two-on-one. Pyatt decided to shoot instead of pass and squeaked a shot through Irving.

The second period was a scoreless affair with the Flames being stifled offensively by the Coyotes defence.

The visitors only put four shots on net during the second stanza and only managed a single shot during their one power play in that frame.

The Flames drew even at 4:01 of the third period thanks to a Jokinen deflection. The pivot carried the puck around the zone before passing it off to Mark Giordano. The blueliner sent a hard shot towards the net from the point that bounced off Jokinen and into the net.
