Miikka Kiprusoff stopped Jack Johnson and Mike Richards in the shootout and made 31 saves in the win.
At 3:28 of the first period, Kings captain Dustin Brown opened the scoring after capitalizing on an errant puck.
Jokinen was able to check Justin Williams off the puck but it ended up bouncing right to Brown. The forward snapped a quick shot past Kiprusoff, earning his 13th goal of the year.
The Flames were unable to cash in on a 0:41 two-man advantage and ended up going 0-for-2 on the power play after Colin Fraser and Jarret Stoll were handed minor penalties late in the first frame.
However, the Flames made up for those lackluster power plays by scoring with the man advantage midway through the second period.
Jokinen threw a soft pass across the ice to Jarome Iginla and the captain snapped a shot past Jonathan Quick for his 18th goal of the season.
TJ Brodie also assisted on the marker.
Kiprusoff got his team to the shootout after making a couple of tremendous saves in overtime. Dustin Penner and Slava Voynov went in on a two-on-one and nearly scored but the netminder was able to swat the puck away just before it crossed the line.
However, Mike Richards had followed up on the play and was waiting for the rebound. He sent a shot on net but Kiprusoff somehow got his body on it to keep it out of the net.
