Morning Skate Report: Flames vs. Avalanche

HORAK SITS OUT

Rookie pivot Roman Horak will sit out tonight as Brendan Morrison will play on the second line, creating a log jam down center ice.

"Like all young players, there are certain things in his game that he needs to continue work on and have maybe slipped a little bit too," head coach Brent Sutter said.

The coaching staff feel this is a learning opportunity for the youngster as it gives him a birds-eye view of the action and how small aspects of an individual's game can radically change the flow of a contest.

"It's good for young players to do that every now and then, to watch the game and get a different perspective, a different view.

"He can watch the Duchene's and the Backlund's and these young guys. And also use some of the older guys to help him out by just watching them play."

In 25 games this season, Horak has two goals and nine points with a plus-three rating.

GLENCROSS READY TO GO

Winger Curtis Glencross missed Tuesday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes with the flu but he will be back in the lineup tonight.

"I'm feeling alright," the 28 year-old said. "It's one of those things that you get a bug, it takes a few days to kind of get it out of you."

Glencross has netted seven goals and 13 points in 25 games played this year. He currently sits fourth in team scoring.

DISREGARD THE DOMINANCE OVER THE AVS

The Flames come into tonight's game riding an eight-game winning streak over the Avalanche, outscoring them 33-14 in those outings.

A win tonight would clinch the season series but despite the incredible success they have had over Colorado, the Flames know they cannot take their competitors lightly.

"We can't do that," Glencross said. "We have our successes because we're working hard and playing hard. If we're not working hard and playing hard, we're not going to have success. They're a team over there that can put the puck in the net as well and you can't take any team lightly in this League."
