Flames Foundation Donates $20,000 to U of C hockey teams
Flames general manager Jay Feaster and Flames Foundation for Life executive director Natasha Guillot presented the Dinos hockey captains Brock Nixon and Tanya Morgan with a cheque before Friday's game between the Dinos men's hockey team and the Flames prospects.
"The Calgary Flames Foundation believes in supporting amateur and grassroots sports," said Guillot. "Thanks to the generosity of our own fans, we are in a position to help these student athletes achieve their very best."
In recognition of the annual donations, the Dinos hockey clubs wear the Flames Foundation for Life logo on their jerseys.
In addition, the Calgary Foundation and the Calgary Flames Hockey Club established in 2009 the Harley Hotchkiss Scholarship Program. The scholarship is offered to three hockey players (male and female) who demonstrate leadership, good sportsmanship and maintains their grade point average.
The Flames Foundation for Life is the charitable arm of the Calgary Flames through which millions of dollars in funding has already been directed to education, medical research, amateur sport and recreation.
