CalgaryFlames.com staff take a crack at projecting the first round
"This year it's different because I think there's more people in play," Tambellini told NHL.com. "You can talk to 30 teams and they may give you different answers in how they rank 1-5 in this year's draft, and they're all really good players. There's a lot of good depth, especially at the top. That's what's different about this draft."
After Nugent-Hopkins, our armchair GM's choices vary greatly. They're at odds with one another on nearly every pick including who will end up donning a Calgary jersey on Friday evening.
Peterson sees LW Sven Bartschi, who has ranged all the way from 7 to 16 by various scouting rankings, being called on stage by general manager Jay Feaster while Onysyk believes Alberta boy C Mark McNeill will be selected by the club.
The Flames pick 13th overall in the first round and given the breadth of talent among these players, any one of them could be a blue chip prospect for the organization. Feaster has indicated the team will select the best player available instead of drafting by position.
