North American Goaltenders: 1-5
1 John Gibson, USA U-18 (USHL)

Born: July 14, 1993

Born In: Pittsburgh, PA

Catches: Left

GP: 32   GAA: 2.64   SV%: .918
LOWDOWN: Gibson has the size to fully cover the net but also has the athleticism to make a very multi-dimensional netminder. He moves quickly across the crease and is quite flexible, making it easier for him to bounce back into position if he makes a mistake. He put on a clinic at the 2010 World U-17 Challenge, stopping 38 of 39 shots and backstopping the USA to a win in the gold medal game.

WHAT SCOUTS SAY: "John has great net coverage and size (6-foot-3, 200 pounds), and is very strong. He's sound technically, moves very well laterally and is controlled. He's calm, not busy." - NHL Central Scouting's Al Jensen to NHL.com

2 Christopher Gibson, Chicoutimi (QMJHL)

Born: December 27, 1992

Born In: Karkkila, FIN

Catches: Left

GP: 37  GAA: 2.42   SV%: .920
LOWDOWN: The Finn was the best netminder in the QMJHL last season, ranking first in the league in both save percentage and GAA. He's a steady butterfly goalie who is known for coming out of his crease to challenge opponents. One of his greatest strengths is his rebound control.

WHAT SCOUTS SAY: "He's a very confident goalie, has an air of confidence about him. He's got very good net coverage, has good size and is very strong in his crease. He plays determined and aggressive, his movements are controlled, he tracks the puck very well and he challenges properly and holds his ground. He battled hard in all areas. He has a good, solid butterfly, was quick at gathering in any loose pucks and has good overall quickness" - NHL Central Scouting's Al Jensen to NHL.com

3 Jordan Binnington, Owen Sound (OHL)

Born: July 11, 1993

Born In: Richmond Hill, ON

Catches: Left

GP: 46   GAA: 3.05   SV%: .899
LOWDOWN: Binnington has become known for his calm presence in net and his patience. He's rarely caught off-guard thanks to being positional sound and can absorbs shots like a sponge. With his fine technique, steady demeanour and continued progression, he has NHL starter upside.

WHAT HE SAYS: "It has given me tons more chances to shine. Coming into the year, I was hoping for 20 or 30 games so I probably wouldn't have been able to make many mistakes out there. But with all this time I have, I can just prove myself and show everyone what I can do." - to Sportsnet on how Owen Sound's season start Scott Stajcer's injury helped his development

4 Matt McNeely, USA U-18 (USHL)

Born: February 16, 1993

Born In: St. Paul, MN

Catches: Left

GP: 25   GAA: 3.82   SV%: .893
LOWDOWN: The St. Paul native is on an excellent development curve and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. A huge factor for his progression is his work ethic. He consistently gives 100 per cent in every practice and soaks up advice. His glove positioning has come a long way over the past season.

WHAT HE SAYS: "I'm a butterfly goaltender. I think that's kind of the modern style of play. So, that's my style. I feel I'm a calm goalie. I keep my head level no matter what. I try to play as consistently as I can. Some of my strengths would be that I battle hard no matter what the score is. I always do my best. I'm a reliable goalie to have in the net. " - to McKeen's Hockey Prospects on his style

5 Stephen Michalek, Loomis-Chaffe (HIGH-CT)

Born: August 6, 1993

Born In: Hartford, CT

Catches: Left

GP: 23   GAA: 3.95   SV%:  .918
LOWDOWN: Not only is Michalek one of the top ranked goaltending prospect, he's also a great baseball player. His athleticism is a testament to his prowess in both sports and is his greatest asset when it comes to tending the twine. His size ensures he gives little for the oppostion to shoot at and his mental toughness allows him to shake off a goal and move on.

WHAT HE SAYS: "I want to prove to NHL teams that I’m more than a guy who just sits in the net and stops pucks. I want to show them that I have the work ethic and am a good athlete. I want to be able to tell them how hard I’m going to dedicate myself to being a player." -  to New England Hockey Journal on what he hopes NHL scouts see in him
