Regehr gets his revenge on CFL quarterback

CALGARY -- Calgary Flames defenseman Robyn Regehr waited patiently for three years to get revenge on Calgary Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris.

Burris made an appearance on the television show "Off the Record" and was asked what Flames player was the biggest Stampeder fan.

His answer was Regehr.

The only problem is Regehr was raised in Saskatchewan and is a huge fan of the Roughriders. When the Flames took the ice Saturday for their practice on the Stampeders home field, Regehr was wearing a Saskatchewan Roughriders knit hat.

So when reporters crowded around Regehr after practice in the Flames locker room -- which is really the Stampeders locker room -- he wore a pretty satisfied grin.

"Henry Burris started it," Regehr said. "It's taken me a little while to get back at him, but I thought this would be a really good opportunity to do that."

Regehr said none of his teammates knew what he had planned.

"This is a solo mission," Regehr said. "I'm going rogue right now."

As satisfied as Regehr felt, he might have upset the people of Calgary. After all, the Roughriders have owned the Stampeders in the CFL playoffs. Burris and the Stampeders have lost to the Roughriders in the postseason four times.

Still, Regehr had no regrets.

"I've actually gotten a couple compliments from some people from Saskatchewan," Regehr said.

Regehr, who was born in Brazil but raised in Saskatchewan, said he has something else in store for Burris before the weekend is over.

"I just can't wait till Henry finds what I'm going to hide in his locker," Regehr said.
