Tanguay was seen leaving the Saddledome early in the day and did not participate in the morning skate.
By the time the morning skate had finished, it was announced that Tanguay will be out indefinitely with a neck strain.
Tanguay is suspected of suffering the injury on Monday durng the third period of the Flames win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
"I don't think anybody really knew," said Rene Bourque. "We went on the ice and never saw him getting dressed. He's probably being cautious, he's a little banged up right now."
Tanguay did not leave the game early Monday night..
"I got confirmation this morning that he wouldn't be available to us tonight," said head coach Brent Sutter. "That's when you have to start making adjustments.
"Someone else is going to have to fit into that hole right now. We'll put Bourque up there and see how he makes out. It's all part of the game. We shuffle some things around, we'll be fine. It is what it is.
"Tangs brings those assets, he's such a great passer and has skill level that you want in your lineup. But at the end of the day, he can't play."
Bourque will fill Tanguay's spot on a line with Brendan Morrison and Jarome Iginla.
"I talked to Jarome a little bit this morning," said Bourque. "I am strong down low with the puck and that's where he wants to be- down low and cycle the puck. Pick for each other and get each other open and take pucks to the net.
"I'm not going to change my game and try to be like Tangs. I'm not that player, I'm not that kind of passer. I just have to play to my strengths and hopefully we get some chemistry."
Pardy did not attend practice today after suffering an upper body injury in the third period of Monday's win over the Blackhawks.
At the moment, Pardy is out indefinitely.
In the meantime, Brendan Mikkelsson will step in for Pardy and play along side with Anton Babchuk in Wednesday night's game against the Senators.
"Mikkelsson will play tonight," said Sutter. "I liked the way Mikk and Babs played when Robyn [Regehr] was out of the lineup when they were a pair. He'll get a chance to go in and we need him to be a good player for us."
"We need these points," said Hagman."The team has played well, I'll try to be better. There's no time for me to get back used to it. It was only a week that I was off. I've been skating hard so there shouldn't be any excuses that I shouldn't play well."
