Canadian Forces appreciation night

Calgary, AB– The Calgary Flames are proud to announce Canadian Forces Appreciation Night at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday, November 29th when the Flames face off against the Minnesota Wild.

This is the fifth consecutive year in which the Flames have celebrated our Canadian Forces with an appreciation game at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Once again, through the incredible support of Flames season ticket holders, all available Calgary and area soldiers and a guest will attend the game.

“I would like to thank the Calgary Flames Hockey Club and their season ticket holders for their generous support of the Canadian Forces," said General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff. "By honouring these Canadian Forces members today, you are recognizing the sacrifices of everyone who wears the uniform, as well as their families and friends who support them every day."

Included in the evening’s festivities will be a pre-game ceremonial puck drop by members of the Canadian Forces representing Navy, Air Force and Army accompanied by Deputy Commander Land Force Western Area/Joint Task Force West, Brigadier General Kelly Woiden. All Calgary Flames players will be wearing “Support Our Troops” yellow ribbon decals on their helmets in support of the Canadian Forces.

“We are honoured to open our doors at the Scotiabank Saddledome to welcome the men and women of the Canadian Forces,” said Flames President & CEO Ken King. “It is their continued personal commitment and sacrifice that allows all of us to enjoy our freedom as Canadians. It is also with great pride that I thank our season ticket holders for their generous display of support in donating their tickets and hosting our Canadian Forces.”

The Flames are thrilled to honour the brave men and women of the Canadian Forces, as well as, share in the celebration of the Canadian Navy’s centennial anniversary which takes place this year. “Support Our Troops” merchandise will be sold on the concourse along with a limited number of Calgary Flames Commemorative Canadian Forces Caps through Flames FanAttic stores with a portion of the proceeds benefitting “Support Our Troops”. Funds from the Flames Foundation for Life 50/50 Draw will also be directed to “Support Our Troops” at Monday’s game.
