The Game Rush: Flames vs. Red Wings
DETROIT, MI -- For the majority of the game, the Calgary Flames appeared to be in control against the Detroit Red Wings but a late power play goal sunk their hopes of picking up a victory in the Joe Louis Arena.

The Flames fell 5-4 in overtime after allowing a goal with just 3.2 seconds left in regulation, tying the game. Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom ended the game 1:38 into the extra frame.

Calgary's captain was hot yet again, notching three points in the game. Jarome Iginla's first point came from an excellent pass to Niklas Hagman, who tied the game up at 5:21 of the opening period.

After that, Iginla snapped home his seventh goal of the season when he was able to get himself open after Matt Stajan was able to capture the puck behind the Detroit net. The centerman saw Iginla get into position and didn't hesitate to throw the puck to him.

Iginla's third point of the game came on the power play. Alex Tanguay sent a great pass over to him and with no Detroit players close by, Iginla was able to snap the puck over a sprawled Jimmy Howard with ease.

Tanguay added the Flames fourth goal of the afternoon, giving him his sixth tally of the season.

The Red Wings received goals from Johan Franzen, Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg (2) and Lidstrom.

The Flames took 10 minor penalties in the contest and it ended up costing them dearly. Late in the game, Jarome Iginla was called for unsportsmanlike conduct and until the final few seconds of the game, it looked like the Flames would escape the undisciplined game unscathed.

Unfortunately for Calgary, Zetterberg dashed their hopes of a win in regulation when he received an excellent pass from Datsyuk and flung the puck over Kiprusoff and into the net with just 3.2 seconds left. The Flames couldn't recover from the blow in overtime and fell by a score of 5-4.

After going down by a goal early in the first period, the Flames settled into their game and were able to tie the contest up with a beautiful goal by Hagman.

Iginla snagged the puck along the boards at the Red Wings blueline and quickly spun around to look if any of this teammates were open. Hagman came storming up the middle as Iginla sent the puck his way, kept the puck on his forehand until he had the Red Wings netminder fooled. Once Howard had committed, Hagman flipped the puck to his backend and went top shelf with his sixth goal of the season.

Another game, another three point outing for Iginla. The Flames captain led his team offensively once again, registering two goals and an assist in the contest.

He had four shots on net, one hit and one penalty in his 19:20 of ice time.

Iginla's two goals was new personal best for the captain in Detroit. The forward has never had a multi-goal game in the Joe Louis Arena in his career until Sunday afternoon. Overall, it was his 81st multi-goal outing of his career.

Iginla has 16 career regular season tallies against the Red Wings.
