Ryan is currently playing his fifth season in the WHL for the Chilliwack Bruins where he is an alternate captain. His 14 goals in 10 games are good enough for second spot in the WHL behind leader Brendan Gallagher (VAN) who was 15 goals but has played in 15 games, five more than Howse. On October 16, Howse set a franchise record scoring a second period hat-trick in a mere 58 seconds, all power-play goals during a 6-3 win over Vancouver. Ryan was named to Team WHL on October 21 to compete in the SUBWAY Super Series against Team Russia from November 8-18. The Calgary Flames drafted Howse in the 3 rd round (74th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
