The Game Rush: Flames vs. Canucks
Alex Tanguay took a pass from Robyn Regehr while the Flames were shorthanded and quickly skated the puck up along the boards. Mikael Backlund saw the play develop and raced up the middle, positioning himself perfectly for a patented Tanguay pass. The youngster tipped the puck high over Eddie Lack's shoulder to tie the game up.

Ales Kotalik has said repeatedly that he can get his offensive game back in order and that goal was kick-started tonight when he was able slip the puck past Tyler Weiman after being tripped up in the Canucks zone. The winger was able to keep a handle on the puck while sliding across the ice, maneuvering it at the perfect moment to slide it into the net.

Alex Tanguay made his much-anticipated 2010-11 season debut with the Flames and he did not disappoint. The 30 year-old was all over the ice all night, getting minutes on both the power play and the penalty kill, and played a crucial role in Backlund and Jarome Iginla's tallies.

Defenseman Ian White has a bomb of a shot from the blueline and the Flames look like they're going to utilize that with the man advantage this year. White had 8:07 of power play time in his 25:39 of ice time.

"Even though it's the preseason, it's nice to find ways to win in the third period. Our captain took care of that last goal for us ... we knew it was the first game, we knew it was a learning process. We'll try to get better on a daily basis until the first game on Oct. 7th." - Alex Tanguay on the win.
