Flames call up Keetley; reassign McElhinney
McIlhinney saw his first NHL action Monday when he replaced Miikka Kiprusoff in the Flames net during a 4-1 loss to San Jose. He played the final 23 minutes of the game. "I was certainly nervous but those are the things you have to put behind you and be ready," said McElhinney, who was raised in Calgary.
He faced just shots, allowing one goal.
"There are two shots and one of them goes in so it's not really the start I was looking for, the performance, I was lookng for."
The 24-year-old McElhinney was named the Flames back-up after training camp. He injured his knee and missed three games shortly after the season started. So, the move to send him to Quad City is seen more as a chance to get him some playing time
In three games for the Quad City Flames this season, Keetley has a 1-1-0-1 record with a 2.28 GAA and a .916 % save percentage.
This is the second time he has been called up to the Flames. He replaced McElhinney as the Flames back-up for three games while McElhinney was hurt.
