Nystrom ready to put best foot forward
Nystrom was recalled from the Quad City Flames on Oct. 21. In four games with the team Nystrom has one goal and one assist. He played two games for the Flames in the 2005-2006 season before suffering from a shoulder injury. The injury caused him to miss the majority of the 2006-2007 season.
Since his injury, he has used his time in the AHL to get his game back to the level he wanted it at.
“I went down there and worked hard with the coaching staff to hone my skills, skating and my conditioning.”
He also used training camp as an opportunity to show his work ethic to the coaches.
“Coming to an NHL training camp is not easy but I went down there and did everything extra I could. I was on the ice late, working with the coaches, really trying to skate with my head up and get my timing back.”
Coming into the game, Nystrom had one goal in mind.
“I want to put my best foot forward and play good hockey.”
Nystrom saw duty on the Flames fourth line with Eric Godard and Mark Smith against the Sharks on Monday.
Nystrom, a first round pick of the Flames in 2002, played with Moss in college for the Michigan Wolverines.
